Monk Sponsors Supply of School Accessories to Students at Troops’ Request

9 Gajaba Regiment (GR) troops of the 623 Brigade under the 62 Division of the Security Force HQ-Wanni with the objective of assisting continuation of studies of students and raising educational standards at Gemunupura Primary School in Welioya, thanks to the sponsorship provided by one Ven Anuruddha Thero from the South coordinated the distribution of school books and stationery packs to some 35 low-income group students, each worth about Rs 6000/= on 14 November 2021.

The project saw 35 students of the primary school received those incentives in that school. Similarly, a stock of library equipment, a computer and some other teaching aids were gifted to the Sri TissapuraVidyalaya where some 170 students of the school were awarded books and stationery packs at the same occasion.

Aforesaid programmes were conducted under the supervision of the Commanding Officer of the 9 Gajaba Regiment Lt. Colonel S. Munasinghe. The Commander of the 623 Brigade, Brigadier Rohan Medagoda and the Chief Civil Affairs Coordinator at SFHQ -Wanni, Lieutenant Colonel N. Madugalla participated in the community projects with the blessings of the 62 Division’s General Officer Commanding, Major General Upali Gunasekera.

Representatives of the donor monk, principals, parents, teachers and well-wishers in both school areas witnessed the donation.
