A new house, built with the financial support of Ministry of Defence and the Directorate of Veterans’ Affairs at the Army HQ under the guidance of Major General Hemantha Bandara, Commander, Security Forces-Wanni and Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) was recently vested in a disabled War Hero of the SLSR.
The recipient Officer currently serving at the Regimental Centre at Headquarters Battalion under medical grounds was seriously injured in Kilali during the peak of Wanni Humanitarian Operations after terrorists triggered a pressure bomb causing injuries to his right hand, face and right eye depriving the total vision.
The new house in Mathugama was formally inaugurated and handed over to Major Prasanjana Matharaarachchi and his family during a simple ceremony on Tuesday (15) with the participation of Colonel Dulith Perera, Deputy Centre Commandant, SLSR, Lieutenant Colonel S Dassanayake, Commanding Officer, Regimental Centre Battalion, Senior Members and members of Sri Lanka Sinha Seva Vanitha Unit.
