9 Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) Regiment troops of the 233 Infantry Brigade of the 23 Infantry Division organized a joint medical clinic and an eye clinic for senior citizens in Welikanda area in association with the Mobile Medical and Eye Care Unit of 'Help Age Sri Lanka' on Saturday (10 June) in Gemunu Maha Viharaya in Sinhapura, Welikanda.
Nearly 250 patients attended both clinics and those who are eligible to receive spectacles and undergo cataract surgery are to be facilitated for both within a month's time.
Representatives and medical staff of 'Help Age Sri Lanka' and Deputy Director of Supreme TV, Mr. Kanchana Kodithuwakku participated in the event. The close supervision of Colonel A.K.C.S De Silva RSP, Commander, 233 Infantry Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel M.I.S Chandrakumara USP Psc, Commanding Officer, 9 SLA troops made the event a success.
Several Senior officers of the Security Force Headquarters-East, 23 Infantry Division, 233 Infantry Brigade and 9 Sri Lanka Artillery, on the guidelines given by the Commander, SF-East, together with officials at Welikanda Divisional Secretariat contributed to the project.
