MIR's New Colonel of the Regiment Takes over Duties

Major General Deepal Pussella, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) assumed duties as the 14th Colonel of the Regiment of Mechanized Infantry Regiment on 01 December 2022 at the Regimental Centre, Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) at Dambuluhalmillewa.

After a Guard Turnout salute to him at the entrance, the formal military ceremony at the Regimental Centre commenced after he was received by Major General Udaya Herath, General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division along with Major General Janaka Priyadarshana, General Officer Commanding, 66 Infantry Division, Brigadier Kavinda Balasooriya, Commander, Mechanized Infantry Brigade and Brigadier Anura Abeysinghe, Centre Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Regiment.

Thereafter, he paid his tribute to fallen MIR war heroes at the war heroes' monument before a Guard of Honour salute at the parade ground got underway as another formality. Leaving memories, he also planted a sapling in the camp premises.

Amid religious rites and observances, he assumed new office as the 14th Colonel of the Regiment, Mechanized Infantry Regiment and addressed the Officers of the Regiment. An All Rank lunch hosted by the Regiment brought the formalities to an end.
