MIR Troops Educated Thru Lectures

Presentations, lectures, physical training sessions and drills dominated the Officers’ Training Day - III of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR), Regimental HQ at Halmillewa, Dambulla on Friday (25).

The day’s programme kicked off early morning with the participation of Major General Sumith Atapattu, Colonel of the Regiment, MIR and Director General, Directorate of Media, together with lady Officers and Officers.

84 Senior Officers, Officers of Mechanized Infantry Regiment and 76 Lady Officers of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps after physical training and drill sessions were over, sat together and listened to a lecture on ‘Difficulties due to Outbreak of Extremism - Role of Sri Lanka Army to Fight with Invisible Enemy’.

Afterwards, Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Lady Officers conducted another presentation on ‘Domestic Violence and Future of Women in Sri Lanka’ and discussed different aspects of the thematic topic.

3 MIR troops were instrumental in preparing those presentations on the directions of Colonel S.J Priyadarshana, Centre Commandant, MIR. Towards the end of the itinerary, one more programme got underway at the Diners’ Club in the evening where Ms Bernadine Jayasinghe, a Corporate Trainer and a lecturer delivered a valuable lecture on ‘Public Speaking’ technique and how it could be improved among Officers.
