MIR Gets Modified Vehicle for Family with 4 Disabled Members

Providing livelihood assistance to a needy family in the vicinity, troops of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) Headquarters at Dambulla, Halmillewa with the support of other donors provided a modified three-wheeler as humanitarian assistance on Friday (25).

The recipient, an old father with four mentally and physically retarded elderly children received this modified vehicle from the Colonel of the Regiment MIR and Director General Media, Major General Sumith Atapattu during a brief ceremony, organized by the MIR Regimental Headquarters under the guidelines given by the Centre Commandant, Colonel S.J Priyadarshana.

Organized as a civil-military cooperation project, the MIR Regimental HQ took the initiative considering the plight of those four disabled family members (two women and two men) who are still receiving the care of both old parents of more than 65 years of age. The family solely depends on the meager income they earn from a small kiosk, managed by them.

Lieutenant Colonel K.K.S Perakum, Deputy Centre Commandant, MIR who was instrumental in the donation project managed to get assistance from outside philanthropists also to have the modified vehicle produced to suit their physical needs.

Brigadier A.G.D.N Jayasundera, Director, Human Rights & Humanitarian Law at the Army Headquarters, Lieutenant Colonel K.K.S Parakum, Deputy Centre Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Regiment along with other Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present during the event. jordan release date | Sneakers Nike
