Major General Kamal Gunaratne, Colonel of the Regiment, Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) on 28 May visited MIR training centre and 2 MIR Headquarter at Menik Farm area, Vavuniya.
At the MIR training centre, Major General Kamal Gunaratne was warmly welcomed by Colonel Shantha Herath, Brigade Commander, MIR Brigade.
A Guard Turnout saluted him on arrival at the premises. After that he inspected the training centre and its premises.
After that Colonel of the Regiment declared open the newly build Officers’ Mess.
Finally he visited the 2 MIR Headquarter and he was welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel Wijayanath Jayaweera, Commanding Officer (CO), 2 MIR. Meanwhile he addressed the officers at the Headquarter main auditorium.
Colonel L. S Balachandra, Centre Commandant and senior officers attended the event.
