The Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) celebrated its 17th Anniversary with military and religious programmes on 22 and 23 February 2024 at the Regimental Centre, MIR Halmillawewa, Dambulla with the presence of the Colonel of the Regiment MIR Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc.
Prior to Anniversary Day all night Pirith Chanting was held at Regimental Centre premises to invoke blessing for the troops of MIR followed by an alms giving to Maha Sanga. Colonel of the Regiment MIR was warmly welcomed by the troops of MIR on the Anniversary day presenting a formal Guard Turnout at the entrance to the camp premises. Afterwards Colonel of the Regiment MIR paid his tribute to the fallen War Heroes at the War Heroes Monument followed by a customary ceremonial parade.
Colonel of the Regiment addressed the troops and extended his compliments to the Officers and Other Ranks of the Regiment and joined a formal All Rank lunch where he interacts with the troops.
Senior Officers of MIR, Officers and Other Ranks and members of MIR Seva Vanitha Branch attended the Annsiversary Day programme.
