The recently-appointed new Colonel of the Regiment of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) and Director General General Staff Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc made his first official visits to the Mechanized Brigade, Mechanized Training School, 1 MIR, 2 MIR, 3 MIR and 5 (V) MIR camps during 24 - 27 August in order to receive updates on the functional aspects of those establishments.
During each visit, the visiting Colonel of the Regiment was warmly welcomed by respective Officers on his arrival and the programme included briefings, formal troop addresses and camp visits.
Before his departure from the relevant camp premises, he was invited to leave memories by planting a sapling inside the camp compounds.
The Centre Commandant, MIR, Brigadier A.M.A Abeysinghe RWP RSP USP psc and Commander Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Brigadier J.M.A Jayasekara RSP USP, along with Staff Officers accompanied the Colonel of the Regiment.
