The Infantry Training Centre (ITC) in Minneriya is now 39 years old and its anniversary was marked with a series of meritorious and community-oriented programmes during 26-31August 2023.
A 'Deva Pooja' at historic Minneriya 'Devalaya', 'Bodhi Pooja' at ancient Somawathiya Temple, offer of free meals to devotees at Somawathiya temple, conduct of a blood donation drive plus military segments were included in the anniversary events.
The guidance and supervision of the Commandant, ITC, Brigadier W.S.K Liyanawaduge RSP enabled Officers and Other Ranks to organize those commemorative features.
On the exact date of the anniversary (31 August), Brigadier W.S.K Liyanawaduge RSP, Commandant, ITC, was honored in a Guard Turnout upon his arrival at the entrance to the ITC. After an address to the troops, the Commandant gifted a stock of reading books to the ITC library as a commemorative gesture.
A blood donation arrangement in cooperation with the medical staff at Polonnaruwa hospital was joined by a large gathering of Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks, uniting all of them in the spirit of camaraderie and shared purpose.
