The Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) giving a fillip to the national endeavour of arresting further transmission of the deadly ‘COVID-19’ virus and motivating all involved in the national task of controlling it on Tuesday (7) released the thematic video song, ‘Ekwa Rekemu’, sponsored by the Ministry of Power in the presence of a gathering of distinguished invitees, inclusive of Ministers, Secretary Defence, Senior Army and Police Officers, Medical Specialists, Chairman, SLBC and a few state officials.
The production, initiated by Mr Mohammed Uvais of the Ministry of Power is to go viral in the You Tube and all proceeds from it are to be awarded to the COVID-19 Presidential Fund. Minister of Passenger Transport Management, Power and Energy Hon Mahinda Amaraweera was presented with the maiden copy of the DVD at the occasion.
Minister of Higher Education and Government's Co-Cabinet Spokesman, Hon. Bandula Gunawardena, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Major General Kamal Gunaratne (Rtd.), representing Chief of Defence Staff ,Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID -19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) Military Spokesman and Director Media at the Army Headquarters, Brigadier Chandana Wickramasinghe, Chairman, SLBC, Jagath Wickramasinghe, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr Indika Hapugoda, Specialist in Medical Cosmetic Care, Dr Jayaruwan Bandara, Chairman of the National Lotteries Board, Mr Lalith Piyum Perera and several other invitees participated in the brief ceremony for its release.
