Deputy Minister of Defence and Minister of Buddha Sasana, Public Security, Law and Order Hon. Rathnasiri Wickremanayake arrived at the Army Headquarters (AHQ) Thursday (24) morning on a formal visit.
Chief of Staff Major Gen S. H. S Kottegoda received the visiting dignitary at the main entrance to the AHQ in the company of Deputy Chief of Staff Major Gen A. M. C. W. B Seneviratne and Major Gen S.G Fonseka, Commandant Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force before he was ushered to the conference hall of the main hall where a briefing was conducted by the Deputy Chief of Staff Major Gen Seneviratne.
Hon. Minister Wickremanayake after a brief exchange of views with Chief of Staff and other senior officers attending the occasion visited the Military Hospital afterwards in the company of Medical Advisor Major Gen Dudley Perera, Colonel Sanjeewa H Munasinghe, Director, Army Medical Services and Major Gen S. Jayaweera, Director Army Dental Services and many other Senior Officers.
Hon. Wickremanayake visited several wards, spoke to a cross section of the patients lying in the hospital and gave away gift parcels to all inmates in hospital. The visiting dignitary after a cordial chat with media men present at the location was later entertained to a tea party organized by the medical staff.
