The private family funeral of late General Cyril Ranatunga (Retd), a former Secretary Defence, Chief of Staff of the Army and a military veteran took place this noon (17) at Borella General Cemetery with a limited number of close family members.
General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army who has a high regard and respect for the late military veteran along with Mrs Sujeewa Nelson President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit paid his last respect condoling with family members.
The simple funeral arrangement with last rites got underway sans military formalities at the request of his family.
Few senior Officers, family members, relatives attended the funeral held at the cemetery adhering to health guidelines.
