Military Police Mark 25th Anniversary with Variety of Programmes

Giving prominence to religious ceremonies, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) proudly marked its 25th anniversary with an alms giving, all rank lunch, military salutes, tree planting, troop address and other arrangements during April 25-27 at the SLCMP Regimental Centre, Polhengoda.

The anniversary programmes, organized on the directions of Major General Nandana Udawatte, Colonel Commandant of the Regiment commenced with an all-night Pirith chanting, at the SLCMP Headquarters premises on Saturday (25), followed by an alms-giving to Buddhist monks on Sunday (26) in order to invoke blessings on the fallen War Heroes and serving SLCMP officers and other ranks.

The climax of the anniversary arrangement took place with a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour, presented to Major General Nandana Udawatte at the Regimental Centre on Monday (27) as a military formality.

In the same afternoon, officers sat together with other ranks for a fellow lunch as the final leg of the anniversary programme.
A large gathering of serving and retired officers and other rankers attended these anniversary programmes.
