Military Officers from US, India, Pakistan &;amp; China Call on Army Commander


Several foreign military officers Friday (23) morning paid courtesy calls on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake at the Army Headquarters.

Senior Colonel Guo Xinning, Deputy Principal, College of Defence at People’s Liberation Army’s National Defence University of China met Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake and extended his best wishes on his new appointment.

Senior Colonel Guo Xinning who had met Lieutenant General Ratnayake while the latter was at the National Defence University in China a few years ago, is currently in Sri Lanka on tour.
 
Senior Colonel Xinning during his brief interaction with the Commander of the Army who is a past graduate at his College, expressed his happiness over his promotion to the rank of Lieutenant General and the subsequent appointment as Commander of the Sri Lanka Army.  

During the same morning hours, Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Schuler, Defence Attaché Embassy of the United States of America, Captain Sumeet Kapoor, Defence Advisor to High Commission of India and Colonel Sheharyar Parvez Butt, Defence Advisor to High Commission of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan separately paid courtesy calls on the Commander of the Army and extended their best wishes on his new appointment.

During these separate interactive meetings, Lieutenant General Ratnayake recalled relations that have been maintained between respective organizations and the Sri Lanka Army for years and years and highlighted the importance of further strengthening prevailing bonds of goodwill and cooperation.   

Towards the end of those formal visits, exchanges of mementos took place as tokens of memory and goodwill.
