ergeant R.M.S Kularatne of the first Regiment, Military Intelligence Corps (1 MIC), Lance Corporal K R W Saman Kumara of the 6th Regiment Sri Lanka Light Infantry, attached to Military Intelligence Corps and Trooper Chaminda Kumara of the 8th Regiment, Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, who were assassinated by LTTE gunmen in BATTICALOA Thursday (30) morning, were the latest Security Forces personnel to lay down their lives for the defence of their motherland from terrorism.
SERGEANT R.M.S KULARATHNE was born on 22 July 1968 in Kurunegala and studied up to G. C. E (ordinary level) at Sirimapura Maha Vidyalaya in Thambuththegama and joined the Sri Lanka Army on 06 February 1987 as a Recruit. On completion of successful military training he was posted to 2nd volunteer battalion of the Gajaba Regiment before he was absorbed into the Military Intelligence Corps for duties on Military Intelligence. Sergeant R.M.S Kularathne served both operational areas in the north and east and also other administrative areas. Married to Mrs R.M Janaki Shanthi Kumari and resident in Sirimapura, Thambuththegama, he has three children.
In recognition of his services, the Army conferred Poorna Bhumi Paddakkama, Riviresa medal and several other medals on Sergeant Kularathne.
LANCE CORPORAL K. R. W SAMAN KUMARA was born on 21 December 1977 in Ampara and studied up to G. C. E ordinary level at Namaloya Vidyalaya in Ampara and joined the Sri Lanka Army on 21 December 1995 as a Recruit and underwent training in Panagoda Army Cantonment. On completion of his basic training successfully, he was posted to 6th Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment for duties and was later transferred to Military Intelligence Corps in 2000.
Lance Corporal Saman Kumara, who served both operational and administrative areas, leaves behind his beloved wife, G.G Chamila Manaweera and his one and only child, all resident in No. 5B/41, Namalgama, Ampara.
TROOPER CHAMINDA KUMARA was born on 19 April 1976 in Buttala and studied up to G.C.E O/L at Saddharma Royal College at Rathmale, Matara and joined the Sri Lanka Army on 03 March 1996 as a Recruit to receive training at Panagoda Army Cantonment. After completion of successful training he was posted to 8th Sri Lanka Armoured Corps for duties.
Trooper Chaminda Kumara has served both operational and administrative areas for about nine years. He leaves behind his beloved parents, Mr & Mrs G.N Wijesinghe residing at Nilwala Raja Mawatha, Buttala.
