Medical Camp & Donation of Dry Rations Recall SFHQ-West's 11th Anniversary

To coincide with the 11th Anniversary of the Security Force Headquarters- West, a joint medical camp, held at Thihagoda Primary School in Matara, organized by the 613 Brigade HQ along with 9 Sinha Regiment and 3 (V) Gemunu Watch with the blessings of the 61 Infantry Division treated more than 650 patients and provided 100 dry ration packs to pregnant women in the general area of Thihagoda, Matara on 18 November 2023.

The community-oriented event received assistance from doctors, associated with the ‘Postgraduate Professional Counselling Services Association’ of the University of Colombo, along with a medical team of the Army Hospital, Narahenpita and Laboratory Services of Narahenpita Asiri Hospital.

This programme was conducted under the guidance of Major General W.H.K.S Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander Security Forces -West and aimed to improve health and sanitary standards of people in the Thihagoda Divisional Secretariat area which was badly affected due to floods and torrential rains in the past few months.

Medical teams examined patients, prescribed and provided medicines and separately held an eye clinic, dental clinic, physiological counseling, family counseling, business counselling and Ayurvedic treatment service. In addition, ration packs were distributed among 100 pregnant women of low-income group families in the area.

Major General R.A.J.N Ranasinghe RSP USP ndc, General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division, Brigadier General Staff of SFHQ - West, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Secretary of Postgraduate Professional Counseling Services Association of Colombo University Senior Psychologist Dr. Chamara Liyanage, along with Officers & Other Ranks of the Security Force Headquarters -West extended support and participated in the day's anniversary event.
