55 Division Headquarters, considering medical needs of the civilians in Aliyavalai area, a remote village which does not have its own medical facilities, organized a full day medical camp recently at Aliyavalai Ceylon Catholic Tamil Mixed School.
Medical Officer of the 55 Division Lieutenant D.W.R. Hirantha and Medical Officers, Dr. S.Vinothan, Dr. Ruvanda Senanayake, Pharmacist T. Prasath and Pharmacist S.M. Bandara of Point Pedro hospital examined more than 175 women, 125 men and a large group of children before they were prescribed medicine.
A large quantity of drugs was also distributed among the patients who sought medical care from the clinic on the same occasion. Special arrangements were in place to serve refreshments and tea to all those who attended the medical camp.
General Officer Commanding 55 Division Brigadier Ajith Wijesinghe, Commander 553 Brigade, officers and other ranks of 19 Sri Lanka National Guard (19 SLNG) coordinated arrangements for this medical camp.
