Martial Art Trainees in Wanni Contribute to Stupa Construction

Over 800 trainees of ‘Kiyoshiru Budo’ martial art programme phase II, currently underway at the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) took time off on Saturday (14) and gave a helping hand to the ongoing construction of the ‘Sandhahiru Seya’ (Stupa) at Anuradhapura by taking bricks to the upper layer.

The project, launched under the guidance of the Commander Security Forces - Wanni, Major General Jagath Gunawardena was designed in order to keep the trainees physically fit while contributing to a national project.

While the project was in full swing at Anuradhapura, together with the Chief Instructor of ‘Kiyoshiru Budo’ martial art programme Renshi Mr Clement De Zoysa, his team of instructors, Officers and Other Ranks representing the SFHQ-W, Major General Jagath Gunawardena made a surprise visit to the location and encouraged the troops, engaged in the meritorious act.

‘Sandhahiru Seya’ stupa is being constructed to commemorate and pay respect to the memory of War Heroes who laid their lives while defending the territorial integrity of the island. Sports News | Men's Sneakers
