The construction of a new house for a needy family in Marathodai Grama Niladari Division by Army troops commenced on Wednesday (7) in Sapumalgasthenna area, following sponsorship received from a southern businessman.
The project to be implemented on the directions of the Commander 623 Brigade, Colonel Rohan Medagoda started after laying the foundation stone for its construction.
Under the supervision of the Commanding Officer of the 11 Gemunu Watch, Lieutenant Colonel P.W Karunarathne, 11 GW troops will complete the project with their manpower and technical expertise with the support of troops in the brigade and different battalions.
Mr N.S.J Dissanayake, a businessman from Sapumalgasthenna village in Vavuniya agreed to supply raw materials for the construction and expects it to be completed before the next Army Anniversary Day in October 2021.
