Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) troops of the 221, 222, 231 and 242 Brigades under 22, 23 and 24 Divisions, further broadened their horizons and performed a series of community-oriented welfare services with the intention of promoting living standards of the people.
On the guidance of Major General Lal Perera, Commander, SFHQ-E 23 Division troops donated readymade garments and asbesto sheets for 12 needy families in Punani and Walamandiya areas, following sponsorships, provided by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 23 Division during a brief ceremony at Panchamaha Viharaya, Punani on Saturday (4).
Troops of the 22 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) provided the service of cricket umpires to conduct a cricket tournament between ‘Kallar Rantharu A’ team and ‘Kallar Nawa Shakthi’ teams at RB/01 Ground, Serunuwara on Sunday (5).
On Monday (6), the same troops donated cattle to a needy family in Ariyamankeni on the directions of Brigade Commander, 222 Brigade.
Meanwhile, 23 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) troops conducted a ‘Shramadana’ Campaign to clean the surroundings of Muhudu Maha Viharaya, Pottuvil on Tuesday (7).
In the meantime, troops of 2 Gajaba Regiment (GR) launched an alms-giving for devotees who observed ‘Sil’ at Bodipadaramaya Temple on Wednesday (8).
On the same day 12 GR troops organized a Kovil Pooja at Periya Uppodi Sri Mutulinga Vinayagar Kovil in order to bless the country and the organization.
27 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops meanwhile provided support to the umpires of the cricket tournament between Punagar Sports Club and Soonagar Sports Club at Kandana Maha Vidyalaya, Verugal on Wednesday (8).
Meanwhile, troops distributed drinking water among families at Ilangathurei village, Trincomalee on Friday (10).
On same day another group of troops conducted a ‘Sharmadana’ campaign to clean the surrounding areas at Echchalanpattu Hospital.
