SENIOR Presidential Advisor Basil Rajapaksa (MP), accompanied by a ministerial and administrative delegation met Major General G.A. Chandrasiri, Competent Authority for Northern Province, Major General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander, Security Forces Wanni and the Area Commander for Mannar during a weekend tour he made to Mannar area with a view to receiving an update on development taking place in the area.
Taking all concerns into consideration, Mr. Rajapaksa requested Security Forces to allow 24 hour fishing facility round the clock to all fishermen in Mannar. He also inspected the new bridge under construction connecting Mannar Town and re-evaluated ongoing highway, electricity and irrigational projects in the area. Mr. Rajapaksa also restored mobile phone facility for the bay of Mannar.
The delegation during their stay in Mannar reviewed “Uthuru Wasanthaya” development work in Kilinochchi and Mullaittivu districts during discussions with District secretaries who were present on the occasion.
Minister Rishad Badurdeen, Governor for Northern province, District Secretaries for Mannar, Kilinochchi and Mullaittivu districts, Military and Police authorities and representatives of major organizations attended the meetings.
