Mankada Maha Vidyalaya Playground Renovation Nearing Completion

Renovation of the playground at Kotawehera, Mankada Maha Vidyalaya, together with its very large drainage system in Hambegamuwa is fast nearing completion with the participation of Sri Lanka Engineer (SLE) troops responding to the Presidential directive as per the directions of the Chief of Defense Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva under nation-building tasks.

The project started on 09 February 2021 is performed by troops of 6 Field Engineer Regiment under the supervision of the Brigadier Anurudda Seneviratne, Commander, Plant Engineer Brigade. The total estimated cost of the project is Rs. 4 million and it is funded by the Presidential Secretariat.

Sri Lanka Army is to develop 06 school playgrounds after the President's 8th “Gama Samaga Pilisandarak” programme entrusted the responsibility to the Army on 30 January 2021. Out of those 06 playgrounds, renovation of 05 playgrounds have already been completed.

Under the guidance of Major General Nihal Amarasekara, Chief Field Engineer, Major General Chandana Wijesundara, General Officer Commanding of the Engineer Division directs and supervises his troops engaged in these constructions.
