Malwathu Vihara Development Foundation Goes to Aralaganwila for Army Coordinated Events

To match with the motto, ‘Be a Refuge Unto Other’ of the Susarana Lanka Development Foundation of the Malwathu Maha Viharaya, Kandy, a team of social workers of the said organization recently went to Aralaganwila area and took part in several welfare projects with the coordination of the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E).

As the first project, the donors with the coordination, facilitated by Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces - East (SF-E), organized a mobile medical clinic to be in line with their project motive, ‘The Physical Well-being of a Person Affects His or Her Mental and Emotional Happiness’ as displayed during the clinic at Vilayaya Central College, Aralaganwila.

The health clinic, attended by consultant physicians, treated more than 200 civilians in the area for various non communicable diseases, covering skin, dental, ENT, pediatric fields and kidney diseases during the full-day clinic.

Afterwards, the organizers distributed dry rations, school accessories, furniture, utensils, metal ware, water containers, water tanks, cupboards and scholarships to the value of Rs 2 million among temples, pre-schools, students and villagers during the brief meeting at the same college. Two scholarships for clever students were also given away at the same occasion.

Ven. Galahitiyagoda Sumanaratne Thero, Chairperson, Susarana Lanka Development Foundation, Dr Saman Walisinghe, Dr Lalith Rajapakshe, Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, SF-E, General Officer Commanding 23 Division, Commander 231 Brigade and several officials of the Susarana Lanka Development Foundation attended the programme at the school for distribution of those relief items.
