Maldivian President HE Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayum, currently in Sri Lanka on a state visit saluted the memory of fallen War Heroes in the country on Wednesday (22) evening at Battaramulla War Hero Memorial.
Upon his reach at the Battaramulla memorial, the visiting President Gayum was warmly received by Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army, in the company of Senior Minister, Hon A.H.M Fowzie (MP), Minister in Attendance, Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Adjutant General, Army Headquarters and a host of other state officials and senior Army officers.
The solemn and brief ceremony saw the Maldivian President place a floral wreath at the foot of the Memorial and salute the memory of fallen War Heroes as the Last Post rent the air in keeping with military traditions. Lieutenant General Ratnayake ushered the visiting Maldivian Head of State into the monument for wreath laying.
HE the President Mahinda Rajapaksa earlier on Wednesday (22) welcomed the visiting Maldivian President, Maldivian First Lady and his delegation at the Presidential Secretariat where bilateral talks took place.
