Major General Sena Waduge, New SLAVF Commandant Assumes Duties

Major General Sena Waduge assumed duties as the 46th Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) on Thursday (09) amidst military formalities at the SLAVF Headquarters at Kosgama.

The day’s proceedings in connection with the assumption of duties as Commandant began with reviewing of the Guard Turnout, accorded in his honour by Gemunu Watch troops at the main entrance. The Senior Officer was received by Major General Christy Jayasinghe, Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and Brigadier P.N Godellawatta , Principal Staff Officer on his arrival at the camp premises.

Afterwards, the Senior Officer amidst religious rituals and blessings placed his signature on an official document, symbolizing the formal acceptance of his new appointment at the auspicious minute. He was also invited to plant a sapling in the complex as a symbol of memory of the day.

A restricted gathering of troops after a while listened to his inaugural address, in which he assured that he would try his level best to raise the standards of the SLAVF Headquarters during his tenure of office.

Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Headquarters attended the occasion adhering to strict health guidelines.
