Major General Priyantha Silva Receives New Insignia from Army Chief

General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army on Thursday (16) at the Army HQ adorned just promoted Brigadier Priyantha Silva of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps with his new ‘Major General’ insignia on his epaulettes after extending the former's best wishes for performance of his continued duties as the Commander, Forward Maintenance Area-North Central (FMA- NC) HQ of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni.

During Thursday’s meeting, the Army Chief congratulating him on his elevation inquired into possibilities of uplifting the Forward Maintenance Area- roles in general across other HQs too and how its services in the FMA- NC could be further extended considering its relevance to the operational aspects of military establishments.

Awarding the batten that signifies the authority of a Major General and a replica of a sword as a memento, General Shavendra Silva towards the end of the interaction, extended warm wishes on his new rank and wished him good luck with his future FMA roles. The recipient also thanked the Commander of the Army for his appreciative comments and his kind recognition.
