Major General Priyantha Jayasundara Bids Farewell to the Army

Sri Lanka Artillery bade farewell to its outgoing 17th Colonel Commandant Major General Priyantha Jayasundara on 26th April 2018 who retired from service after serving more than 34 years in the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army.

The commencement of the ceremony at Panagoda Sri Lanka Artillery Regimental Headquarters began after paying respect to fallen War Heroes of the tribe by laying a floral wreath at the Regimental Monument. All Regular and Volunteer units, together with School of Artillery troops afterwards presented the Regimental Parade in honour of the outgoing senior Gunner. A tea table at Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess as well as an all rank lunch ended the day’s social events.

Major General Jayasundara, who had served the country with best of his ability for well over 34 years also left memories in the premises by planting a sapling in the presence of other Senior Officers.

The outgoing Senior Officer in his farewell speech thanked everyone in the Sri Lanka Artillery for their unstinted support given to him during his stay in the Army. An all rank dinner ended the day’s ceremonies.
