Major General Nishantha Manage of Vijayabhahu Infantry Regiment this morning (13) assumed office as the new Director General General Staff (DGGS) at the Army Headquarters during a simple ceremony.
As members of the Maha Sangha commenced ‘Seth Pirith’ chanting, the new DGGS symbolized the acceptance of his new responsibilities by placing his signature for a formal document.
He succeeds Major General Priyanka Fernando who has been retired from the Army recently.
Major General Nishantha Manage is also the Commander of the Army Training Command and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabhahu Infantry Regiment.
Senior Officers, Directors and Officers of Directorates under the DGGS Branch at the Army HQ were present during the occasion.
