Major General Kumara Jayapathirana assumed office on Monday (26) as the new Commander of the Security Forces Headquarters-Central (SFHQ-C) amid religious blessings at the Headquarters. He is the 12th Commander, SFHQ-C in succession.
He was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers on arrival at Diyatalawa and honoured in a Guard Turnout, presented by the troops of the 18 Gemunu Watch. After a few minutes, Major General Kumara Jayapathirana while members of the Maha Sangha commenced chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ placed his signature in an official document to signify the acceptance of his new office as several Senior Officers looked on. Later on, he was invited to mark the occasion by planting a sapling in the compound as a gesture of memory.
An All Rank tea and his formal address to the troops afterwards culminated the day’s proceedings.
