Major General J.R Ampemohotti Honoured in His Regimental HQ

Major General J.R Ampemohotti of Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) retired from the Army on Tuesday (24) after completion of 34 years of exemplary service.

The retiring Major General was welcomed in a Guard Turnout at the SLLI Regimental Headquarters upon his arrival after he was received by Colonel D.A.K Dissanayake, Centre Commandant SLLI. A subsequent Guard of Honour parade presented by regimental troops saluted him. Laying of a floral wreath at the War Heroes' monument was another feature on the agenda.

Afterwards, he addressed the regimental troops and paid his tribute to those fallen and turned disabled during the operations conducted to defend the mother, Lanka. Followed by group photographs, he joined an all rank tea arrangement.

Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Mahinda Mudalige, Senior Officers of the Regiment including family members, Officers attended the event.

He joined the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet on 6 June 1985 and received commissions on 25 April 1986 as a Second Lieutenant at the Sri Lanka Military Academy in Diyatalawa. This Senior Officer actively participated in many military operations against the LTTE and turned disabled permanently due to terrorist attacks in 1990. To appreciate his bravery, he was awarded the Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP).

He held many instructor, staff and commanding appointments including the office of the Director Human Right and Humanitarian Law.

As a sportsman, he represented Sri Lanka in several sports events and won the 4th place in the Ranaviru Real Star TV series. Best Authentic Sneakers | Footwear
