On the eve of his retirement from the Army after an exemplary service of more than thirty four years, Major General Jagath Rathnayake, the former Commander Security Forces - Mullaittivu, one of the outstanding officers produced by the Gemunu Watch (GW) received appreciative praise from General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army on Tuesday (16) when the former was invited to the Commander's office.
General Shavendra Silva during the brief interaction recalled memories and shared a few thoughts with the retiring Major General Jagath Rathnayake who has served many key appointments in the Army and the Gemunu Watch in particular. "Thank you for all the good work you fulfilled for the organization having displayed your professional skills with commitment," the Army Chief remarked.
The outgoing Senior Officer also thanked the Commander of the Army for his wishes and the thoughtfulness while mentioning about the encouragement he received from the Army Chief in the performance of his duties.
