Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku, New Jaffna SF Commander Takes Office

The new Security Forces Commander - Jaffna, Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku this morning (19) amid religious blessings left his signature for a formal document and signified the acceptance of the new office at the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J).

Upon his arrival at the premises, the new Jaffna Commander was greeted to a Guard Turnout before he was warmly received by SFHQ-J senior officers. A few minutes later, he was invited to review the Guard of Honour, presented by 11 Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops and received the salute.

Buddhist monks and clergy of main denominations invoked blessings on the new office and provided spiritual strength to carry on with his new duties. Afterwards, as Buddhist monks commenced ‘Seth Pirith’ chanting, the new Jaffna Commander signed a formal document to symbolize the acceptance of new responsibilities.

Afterwards, he addressed the troops and outlined his vision for the role and tasks of the soldiers serving in the peninsula.

General Officers Commanding, 51, 52 and 55 Divisions of the SFHQ-J, Brigade Commanders, Senior Officers and other ranks were associated with the inauguration of his new office.
