Major General H.H.K.S.S. Hewage RWP RSP USP rcds psc assumed duties as the 5th Commandant of the Army War College (AWC), Buttala on 12 July 2024 with a brief ceremony.
The new Commandant was welcomed in a Guard Turnout on his arrival at the main gate and was warmly received by the Deputy Commandant. Then, symbolising his acceptance of the new office amidst religious observances, Major General H.H.K.S.S. Hewage RWP RSP USP rcds psc, left his signature in an official document in the presence of a gathering of Senior Officers. Adding memories to the day, the Senior Officer was invited to pose for a few group photographs with the staff and was also invited to plant a sapling in the compound.
During the troops' address, he emphasised the importance of everyone’s contribution and support in accomplishing the objectives, vision, and mission of the AWC.
The brief ceremony culminated with an All Rank tea arrangement at the Multi Facility Complex, during which the new Commandant interacted with the attendees.
