On the eve of his retirement from the Army after a distinguished military career of more than three decades, Major General Deepthi Jayathilaka, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu, one of the proud soldiers-produced by the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) received plaudits and best wishes for his future endeavours from none other than the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva this morning (14) at the Army Headquarters.
The Army Chief during the brief interaction with the retiring Senior Officer commended his dedicated services to the Army for more than three decades and shared a couple of thoughts, pertaining to his eventful career, experiences and intended projects in the future. He also recalled a couple of interesting memories in the past and wished him good luck with his future endeavours.
The outgoing Senior Officer also thanked the Commander of the Army for his wishes and the thoughtfulness while mentioning about the encouragement he received from the Army Chief in the performance of his duties. Towards the end of the interaction, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva awarded a special memento to the retiree as a symbol of appreciation and commendation.
