Major General C.A Rajapaksha RSP assumed office as the 20th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 58 Infantry Division during a simple ceremony, amidst religious observances and military formalities on 11 May 2024, at the 58 Infantry Division.
The newly appointed GOC of the 58 Infantry Division was warmly welcomed by the Deputy General Officer Commanding and Staff Officers upon his arrival. He was honored in a Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour presented by the troops of 1 Gemunu Watch.
Following the formalities, the new GOC placed his signature on an official document, marking the assumption of his duties amidst chanting of 'Seth Pirith' by maha sangha. Subsequently, the GOC addressed all Officers and Other Ranks outlining his vision.
Adding memories to the day, he planted a sapling in the camp premises and group photographs were taken with Officers. He also joined the All Rank Tea with staff.
Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the day’s events.
