Major General B.K.G.M.L Rodrigo RSP psc IG assumed duties as the new Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) amidst religious observances and military formalities on Friday (13 Oct) at Panagoda Regimental Headquarters.
The incoming Colonel Commandant was greeted in a Guard Turnout at the entrance before he paid a floral tribute to the memory of fallen SLA war heroes at the Regimental Monument. A ceremonial Guard of Honour of the SLA troops afterwards saluted him at the parade square.
Amid chanting of 'Seth Pirith' by members of the Maha Sangha, the new Colonel Commandant signed an official document, signifying the acceptance of the new appointment soon after the symbolic oil lamp was lit by him and Senior Officers present at the occasion.
Adding memories to the day, Major General B.K.G.M.L Rodrigo RSP psc IG planted a sapling in the compound and posed for a few group photographs. Culminating the day’s agenda, he participated in an All-Rank tea at 4 SLA premises and addressed the Officers at the Officers’ Mess. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks took part in the day’s agenda.
Major General B.K.G.M.L Rodrigo RSP psc IG is currently holding the office of the Commandant of Defence Services Command and Staff College at Batalanda.
