Major General A.H.L.G Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc Assumes Duties as 23rd Colonel Commandant of SLE

Major General A.H.L.G Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc assumed duties as the 23rd Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE) on May 22, 2024, following military traditions and customs at the Regimental Headquarters, SLE.

The incoming Colonel Commandant was warmly welcomed by Colonel F Joseph USP Centre Commandant, SLE at the main entrance of SLE. Subsequently, he was accorded a Guard Turnout, followed by the laying of a wreath as a floral tribute to the brave fallen war heroes of the Corps of SLE.

Afterward, a colorful Guard of Honor was awarded to the incoming Colonel Commandant. Symbolizing this significant moment, the incoming Colonel Commandant's father, Captain A.H Amarapala, who was among the first batch of sappers’ family, lit a traditional oil lamp. Subsequently, the newly appointed Colonel Commandant posed for a group photograph with the staff.

Next, he addressed all Officers of the SLE, outlining his scope of work and duties in the days to come. To conclude the day’s events, the Colonel Commandant interacted with Officers during tea at the Officers’ mess.
