MULLAITTIVU: ARMY TROOPS, engaged in the final phase of the battle to eliminate LTTE terrorism, attacked LTTE positions in KARAYAMULLIVAIKKAL and VELLAMULLIVAIKKAL areas causing heavy damages to the terrorists throughout Saturday (16).
During the search and clear operations that followed the attacks, troops recovered four LTTE dead bodies, thirty-six T-56 weapons, One Light Machine Gun (LMG), seven I-com sets, one 12.7mm gun, three 40mm grenade launchers, one Multi Purpose Machine Gun (MPMG), one 60 mm mortar launcher, one Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) launcher, one tractor trailor, one bulldozer and one Outboard Motor (OBM) from those areas.
Meanwhile, troops engaged in search and clear operations in VISUAMADU, UDAYARKATTUKULAM and AKKARAYANKULAM areas recovered ten LTTE Police uniforms, ten LTTE Police caps, one hundred and seventy-five LTTE Police badges, fifteen LTTE Police buttons, fifteen LTTE Police belts, two white helmets, one Multi Purpose Machine Gun (MPMG) barrel , one 12.7 mm gun barrel, four hundred 12.7mm ammunition, two LMG drums, a stock of LMG and T-56 spares, three 60 mm mortar Bi pods, three hand grenades and two LTTE hats, the same day (16).
