Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa told the Lessons Learnt Commission that the LTTE had used the Jaffna University Medical Faculty to train some its cadres to treat the war wounded.He said that he had got the opportunity to meet three ‘LTTE doctors’ now undergoing rehabilitation at Senapura rehabilitation centre.
According to him, as Sinhala and Muslim medical students had not been willing to join the Jaffna medical faculty due to terrorism, the LTTE had made use of some of those slots to have its cadres trained. (Courtesy: The Island)
