LTTE Kills Two Soldiers during Two-Day Humanitarian Pause

MULLAITTIVU: BELITTLING the forty eight-hour humanitarian pause declared by His Excellency the President as Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces during Sinahala and Hindu New Year festival, LTTE snipers in the “No Fire Zone” fired and killed one more soldier in VADUKKAI area on the New Year day (14) morning.

His Excellency the President and Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces Mahinda Rajapaksa had instructed Security Forces to refrain from offensive operations against the LTTE on the 13th and 14th.

One more soldier sustained injuries due to LTTE artillery fire directed from the “No Fire Zone”. (See Situation Report on 13th April 2009).

A few more soldiers were injured when the terrorists fired small arms at the troops on defensive duties in AMPALAVANPOKKANAI and PUTHUKUDIYIRUPPU areas on Tuesday (14).
