A terrorist-destroyed Buddhist place of worship at Aiyakachchi, Jaffna was restored and opened again by troops of the 1 Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) on Thursday (26).
To coincide with the reopening of the new shrine, an alms-giving for 7 monks took place soon after the unveiling of the statue and the premises for veneration.
Senior officers at 1 MIR headquarters and a gathering of other ranks and civilians participated in the brief ceremony.
