Low Income Groups in Kilinochchi Get Free Eye Spectacles

Fifteen patients with impaired eye-sight, selected through the Army-held mobile eye camps in Kilinochchi were given free spectacles on 24 May upon completion of their cataract surgery.

This was executed as the second phase of the project, initiated by the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) on behalf of low- income group people in Kilinochchi.

Colonel Ajith Kolambathanthri, Commander, 571 Brigade gifted the stock of eye lenses to Dr Nishadhi Ranasinghe, Acting Director, District Hospital Kilinochchi.

Lieutenant Colonel Thusitha Silva, Chief Cordinator Civil Affairs, SFHQ-KLN, Dr Gayan Jayawardana and Dr L Anosha from the District Hospital, Kilinochchi attended the day’s event.

Meanwhile, an awareness programme on ‘Non Infectious Diseases’ was held at Nelumpiyasa auditorium with the cooperation of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and the Regional Director of Health Services, Kilinochchi.
