More than 65 families of low-income groups, living in Kilinochchi area received a stimulus for conduct of their lives when the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN), with the support of ‘Shantha Praja Sajeevi Karana Padanama’ of Dehiwala, a few days ago distributed sewing machines, fishing nets, steamers for string hopper making and kitchen utensils.
The brief ceremony for distribution at the Harmony Centre in Kilinochchi, attended by Rev Fr Shantha Abeysinghe, Director, ‘Shantha Praja Sajeevi Karana Padanama’ (SPSKP) and Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, SFHQ-KLN as Chief Guests for the occasion, saw 40 families receive sewing machines and 22 families get fishing nets, steamers and other utensils free of charge.
The charity organization expects to elevate the living standards of those families through these types of donations for the welfare of people in remote areas.
58 Division Headquarters was instrumental in picking those most-needed families.
Mrs Sujeewa Ratnayake, Assistant Director, SPSKP, General Officers Commanding for 58, 68 and 57 attended the distribution ceremony.
