Logistics Command Introduces its ‘Trade Test Management System’ & New Webpage

The Sri Lanka Army Logistics Command HQ launched its newly-designed official webpage and ‘Trade Test Management System’ web application on Tuesday (5 September) during a ceremony at Sri Jayawardanepura Army Headquarters, graced by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army as the Chief Guest.

Instructions given by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army as well as the guidelines provided by Major General S.P.A.I.M.B Samarakoon Hdmc Lsc, Commander, Army Logistics Command enabled technical officers of the Directorate of Information Technology to design the new webpage and ‘Trade Test Management System’ software application within a short period.

Major General S.P.A.I.M.B Samarakoon Hdmc Lsc, Commander, Army Logistics Command warmly received the day’s Chief Guest on arrival at the multi-functional hall at the Army HQ before he was ushered to the ceremony.

The Commander of the Army was afterwards invited to launch the new webpage and the ‘Trade Test Management System’ software application by the host of the project, Major General S.P.A.I.M.B Samarakoon Hdmc Lsc, Commander, Army Logistics Command.

The webpage displays the history of logistics, chain of command, training and seminars, contact information and all other details, associated with the Logistic Command.

‘Trade Test Management System’ software application distributed among all regiments in the Army maintains records relevant to trade tests and updated information, through which all Army tradesmen have access to required information in terms of their specific trades and work involvement.

The new technical additions would ensure the smooth administration and conduct of logistic needs of the logistic command and provide particulars, related to tradesmen and different trades in the Army.

The wing of logistics as a ‘support group’ became functional from 1969 to 1979 with under command units of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps, Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps, Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps inside the Army Cantonment in Panagoda.

In 1980, with the objective of further expanding logistic functions in the Army, a separate Logistic Command was raised and its HQ was shifted to Salawa, Kosgama in 1998.

The Sri Lanka Army consists of 132 various trades, relevant to Combat Arms, Combat Support Arms and Service Regiments. The ‘Trade Test’ application would certainly keep all tradesmen in all Regiments updated.

Towards the end of the occasion, an appreciative memento was awarded to the Chief Guest by the Commander, Logistic Command.

Major General C.D Ranasinghe RWP RSP, Deputy Chief of Staff, Major General D.M.K.D.B Pussella RWP RSP Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and Colonel of the Regiment Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, and Senior Officers participated in the event.
