The Sri Lanka Army’s Logistic Command Headquarters at Kosgama on Friday (7) extended a warm welcome to Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army when he as the Chief Guest arrived there for inauguration of the newly-built Office Complex in the compound.
Major General SPAIMB Samarakoon Hdmc Lsc, Commander, Army Logistic Command received the day’s Chief Guest on arrival at the main gate where a formal Guard Turnout greeted the Commander of the Army.
Thereafter, Major General SPAIMB Samarakoon Hdmc Lsc invited the Army Chief to leave memories of his visit to the location by planting a sapling in front of the new Office complex.
A few seconds later, the day's Chief Guest amid blessings of ‘Seth Pirith’ chanting cut a ribbon as the auspicious minute struck, and warmed the new office complex and Lit the traditional oil lamp inside. The Army Chief also did not forget to share a few thoughts with Buddhist monks present at the venue after religious observances.
Accompanied by the Commander, Army Logistics and few Senior Officers, the day's Chief Guest showing interest in the whole project visited all the sections in the well-equipped modern building complex and saw for himself how attractively and usefully the construction has been completed. He also in turn commended the Logistic Commander and All Ranks for their dedicated work and the final finish that had been given to the building.
As the final segment of the day’s itinerary, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army and Major General SPAIMB Samarakoon Hdmc Lsc, Commander, Army Logistic Command exchanged mementoes. Before his departure, the Army Chief was invited to pen his thoughts and compliments in the Visitors' Book. He was also invited to pose for a group photograph with all Officers serving the establishment.
Major General DGS Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu, Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Major General WBSM Abeysekara RSP USP, Director General Financial Management Branch, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were associated with the day’s opening ceremony.
