About 100 students from four schools in remote Madhu and Palampiddy areas were the beneficiaries of a donation of shoes, school books and accessories, made by Peliyagoda Lions Club in response to a request of the 61 Division Headquarters under the Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni.
Donation of those items worth more than Rs 1 lakh took place during a brief ceremony at Palampiddy Government’s Tamil Mixed School on Monday (10).
Brigadier A. Kariyakarawana, General Officer Commanding, 61 Division, together with representatives of the Peliyagoda Lions Club, senior officers, civil affairs officer, villagers of Palampiddy, Thachchanamarathamadu, Periyamadu, Kirisuddan, teachers and parents of selected beneficiaries attended the ceremony at Palampiddy.
