Lieutenant General Ashok Singh Pays Tribute to Sri Dalada Maligawa

General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of India’s Southern Army Command Lieutenant General Ashok Singh, now in Sri Lanka, paid his obeisance to the sacred Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy on Friday (21), together with other members of his delegation.

On arrival he was received by General Officer Commanding 11 Division, Brigadier A.W.M.A.W.N Ranawana and conducted to the sacred temple for venerations. At the temple, the visiting delegation was received by the Chief Administrative Officer of the Sri Dalada Maligawa.

At the Sri Dalada Maligawa, Lieutenant General Singh received a briefing on its religious importance and how the terrorists tried to blow up the place some time ago. After offerings, they were to visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens.      

Mrs Usha Singh, spouse of the visiting military leader, accompanying delegates, Major General Dewan Rabindranath Soni, Operations Officer, Southern Command Headquarters of the Indian Army and his spouse were associated with the Kandy tour.
