Legendary War Hero’s Arali Point Monument Receives Facelift

The Arali point monument of the legendary War Hero of our contemporary times, late Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa received a facelift and renovation, following an initiative taken by Major General Dharshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna.

Troops of 512 Brigade of the 51 Division under the directions of Major General Dharshana Hettiarachchi, Commander Security Forces - Jaffna, together with Major General Roshan Seneviratne, General Officer Commanding, 51 Division carried out the entire renovation and reconstruction to the monument giving it a new facelift.

A ceremony was organized to re-open the monument to the public by Major General D.J.I.P Gamage, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area - North representing the Jaffna Commander during a ceremony on Monday (10) at Arali point which has become a tourist attraction. Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna and Mrs Indra Dissanayake jointly provided financial sponsorship for renovation work.

The re-opening of the renovated monument took place with a simple floral wreath-laying ceremony on Monday (10). Both the Chief Guest and Major General Roshan Seneviratne, General Officer Commanding, 51 Division placed wreaths and saluted there memory. A sapling was also planted in the premises by the Chief Guest Major General D.J.I.P Gamage, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area - North at the same occasion adding a symbolic memory to the occasion. Sounding of the last post brought the day’s event to an end.

Lieutenant General Kobbekaduwa, one of the finest warriors ever produced by the Army in the country’s contemporary history, died on 8August 1992 alongside fellow military veterans and soldiers, Major General Wijaya Wimalarathne, Rear Admiral Mohan Jayamaha, Lieutenant Colonel H.R. Stephen, Lieutenant Colonel G.H Ariyarathne, Lieutenant Colonel Y.N Palipana, Commander Asanga Lankathilaka, Lieutenant Colonel Nalin de Alwis, Lieutenant Commander C.B. Wijepura and Private W.J Wickremasinghe while they were on a military assignment in Arali Point, Kayts, Jaffna.jordan Sneakers | nike air force 1 shadow , eBay
