Lectures on 'Sport Psychology & Science' Held at SLAGSC Regimental HQ

Directorate of Sports-initiated lecture series on 'Sports Psychology', meant to uplift sport performances of sportsmen and sportswomen of Regimental HQs had one more project at the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) Regimental HQ auditorium on 19 May.

The sessions were designed to raise the morale and psychological capacity in order to enhance the performances of Army sportsmen and sportswomen in the Army pools.

On a concept of Brigadier P.A.M. Peiris, the Director Sports organized the series of lectures for Army sportsmen and sportswomen of the Army Sports Committees.

The session covered sports pools including swimming, boxing, taekwondo, tug of war, athletics and karate. The lectures were conducted on "The importance of improving the psychological skills of sports aligning with the physical skills", "The importance of prevention from occurrences of field injury". The Sports Physiotherapist Major W.A.K.P.S Bandara and the Sports Psychologist, Captain O.D.S.K Rupasri of the sports medicine wing of Army sports Development Village delivered lectures on those specific subjects.

Accordingly, 130 sportsmen and sportswomen who are representing various sports in the Regimental HQ attended the lectures. Representative officials of the Sports Committees also participated in the sessions.
